With the passing of Labor Day, life as we know it goes back to “normal:” kids go back to school, Minnesota State Fairgoers (attempt to) return to healthier eating habits, and summer vacations become cherished memories. With this bittersweet transition, however, we also regain familiarity and routine.
For us at Lupus Link Minnesota, that comfortable rhythm manifests in the form of events, opportunities for us to connect with you in the community and to raise awareness and funds for lupus. And we have been working all summer long to launch some festive fall happenings!
On October 14, we host our first-ever walk event dubbed The Great (Point)8K. This walk invites people of all ages and abilities to join fellow lupus supporters in Maple Grove for an easy .8K (yes, you read that correctly - it is less than half a mile!).
Coming on the heels of the walk, we look forward to a virtual event beginning on October 16: an online silent auction. More about that week-long event appears in this newsletter, but I guarantee you’ll want to mark your calendars for this gift-giving goldmine!
Kristie Bauer, Hidden Greens Golf Course and friends are crafting a family event to benefit Lupus Link Minnesota too. Leaf for Lupus will happen on Saturday, October 28 -- just prior to Halloween. I’m anxious to see the 12-foot-tall leaf piles! More details in a story below.
And finally -- you’re hearing it here first! -- some of our dear chef friends and beer crafters are collaborating for a pairings dinner happening on November 4. Get ready to savor a specially-prepared multi-course dinner with corresponding beer offerings. Space will be limited, so keep an eye out for further information on this and nab your tickets as soon as you can.
I hope you’ll join us as we fall back to our normal routine. YOU are the reason we host events to further the lupus cause. YOU are the reason we champion for research advancements and knowledge. YOU are the reason we look forward to this new season.
Yours in lupus awareness and the fight for a cure.
